The pipe olet is mainly used for reinforcing pipe fittings of branch pipe connection, instead of using different diameter tee, reinforcing plate, reinforcing pipe section and other branch pipe connection types. It has the outstanding advantages of safety, reliability, cost reduction, simple construction, improvement of medium runner, series standardization, convenient design and selection, especially in high pressure, high temperature, large diameter, thick. The wall pipe is used more and more widely, which replaces the traditional branch pipe connection method.

- Whenever branch connections are required in size where reducing tees are not available and/or when the branch connections are of smaller size as compared to header size, Olets are generally used.

WELDOLET® is the most common of all branch connections, and is welded onto the outlet pipe. The ends are bevelled to facilitate this process, and therefore the weldolet is considered a butt-weld fitting. Weldolet’s are designed to minimize stress concentrations and provide integral reinforcement. Weldolet makes 90-deg branch, full-size or reducing, on straight pipe. Closer manifolding is possible than with tees. Flat-based weldolets are available for connecting to pipe caps and vessel heads. (MSS SP-97 UNS S31803 Weldolet DN50 X DN50 Sch40)

LATROLET®, used for 45° lateral connections, is available butt-weld to meet specific reinforcement requirements, and 3000# or 6000# classes for Socket Weld and threaded applications. It makes a 45-deg branch from the main pipe. Mostly latrolets are used in the flare relief lines where the branches are going to connect with the main flare headers, Latrolets are always connected towards the flow to flare.
